Sheila and I were at Detling a few days ago Peter, great fun until I hit the ground a little too hard, opps.

As the wind was so strong I take it you were all flying foam up there!

Let me know if anybody is going slope soaring especially if there is a South Westerly to suit castle Hill.

Did anyone watch Country File the other night regarding Kestrels? They showed some slope soaring and spoke to the flyers on the Mendip Hills. Aerodynamic issues were also discussed using model plane wing sections plus feathered leading edges to indicate the Kestrel's ability to hover.

Well i hope flying this thing is easier than taping it! LoL

Hi Paul. The tape should be a labour of love to give your personal design and colour choice - bubbles under the tape and NOT acceptable... This is an ideal wind direction today but you need to be mad to go out in this! (We did a few years ago and we were flying in snow - we froze)... Mike - ref Country File - never saw the slope soaring but with luck this year maybe some of us will be able to do some...

Wind direction the same 2moz and not so windy... oh believe me it has a personal touch.;)

Its done

Well done Paul. Have you configured the Tx ok! If it's too windy for the field this weekend I will give you a bell - and Mike and depending on the wind direction we will have a soaring bash....
OK you two... Peter

Had a look at the weather for Sat \ Sunday and the wind direction is fine but its due to rain both afternoons which means you would be getting hit in the face on the hill with cannon ball rain being driven by a 30 mph wind - typical British weather. I will keep an eye on the weather as it could be fun.

Looks like Saturday then - from mid afternoon they predict rain but if we get there at between 11 &12 we should get a few hours. Peter

Had no phone calls or reply from anyone else...
Looking very good for Saturday, wind strength and direction ideal for Detling / Castle Hill site.
Forecasted rain now shoved back to about 5pm (after dark) so thats a result...
So its me, Paul and Mike for the hill - anyone else want to see how it works?
