Dave flying his tri-copter Boxing Day

This is Dave testing his tri-copter. After this flight all was well so I was privileged to be the one to put on the FPV goggles while Dave flew the drone. I have to say its a weird experience because when the camera on the drone leans over it makes you feel like your leaning over - but your not - however you do tend to lean your body... Quite disorientating I have to say but a fantastic experience. I can see why FPV is a growing field and I bet when Dave was flying the tri-copter he was dying for the time he could fly it and have the goggles on at the same time...

Is this what your looking for Paul ?

Introduction

Hi all
Would like my first post to be a lil introduction, my first introduction to your club was the summer show this year okay I have watched from afar ie the shingle bank for years. The show was a super success enjoyed it all :) Would like to thank jan and slippery when wet for giving me the confidence and the invite to your blog and to the field yesterday everyone seems well friendly and we had a good larf :) me a total noob to rc flying but was still made to feel at home thank you all. As I have already said to Jan it has taken me 3 decades to get around to start flying okay okay not always flying but attempting to fly more like it ;) Have spent the last 2 years with google my only friend been a long haul but fun trouble is never ventured outside my garden when nobodies looking ;) so very limited unless google and I can build a plane that can do vertical takeoffs I must veture out into the open... thx for listening, have fun :)

Blackburn Monoplane with wing warping.

Such a fantastic scale model of the Blackburn Monoplane which was so far ahead of its time. You can clearly capture the moment in time when you see this model fly... Enjoy.

Skills Needed To Build & Fly A Plane

Blackburn Monoplane 1912

I have waited a long time for this plane to come down to the flying field again and today I was rewarded - however I only had my old camera to hand... The Blackburn Type D, sometimes known as the Single Seat Monoplane, was built by Robert Blackburn at Leeds in 1912. It is a single-engine mid-wing monoplane. This model has the full wing warping system which works very well indeed. A very majestic model in the sky with class...

A Quick Flight.

If you are going to look at this video please ensure you have a bucket to hand - in case your seasick...
This video is 3.8 faster than it should be which can cause dire consequences for you tummy.
You have been warned.

Simons Maiden

Simon said - it was going to be some taxi trials but if it felt right he might take it for its maiden. Without further ado he opened the throttle and it came hurtling towards me and then it was off the ground - would I get a haircut as it headed towards me!!! So much for taxi trials...

Spyhawk FPV? Plane - First Try

When I posted that I had this plane someone asked where is the film... Bit boring to use just at the field so I did a quick hop to a few places on the island - It's was a bit windy - as you will see. I cant upload it as an HD video as it would take all night to upload from my slow upload location. This plane will take off and fly & land on a postage stamp... Now fitted "half view glasses" - so I can see the model all the time but the glasses have a small in-built LCD screen which means I only have to shift my vision to see the screen - the model is ALWAYS visible so not truly FPV but safer with this little model and better than the Tx in-built LCD screen during bright days... See what you think.

Oleos Wanted.

Long shot - Looking for two steel (tatty as hell) sprung oleos at around 120mm to take a fair weight - Someone just might have two of them in the bottom of a box. I am going to cut and mod them so I am not worried about how they look as long as the suspension functions - please let me know a price and I will make that old box a bit lighter for you next time you get it out....
In case your wondering what I am after them for its for the project below - she is a very old lady who I am now trying to make look a lot younger again by getting out all the old "prangs" and botched repairs done over many years together with the most awful paint job which also has a nice coat of yellowing pickling varnish making her wrinkles look so much older than she actually is... You can see here that the camera lies well. Will keep you all updated as work goes on at full steam.

FLYING TODAY SAT 23rd FEB

Interested in going slope soaring today – going to go to the cliffs at Minster around 2pm.
Interested. No chance of doing any other flying in this weather / wind but the cliffs ridge lift will be vertical and even a brick will fly... (You can bring any coloured brick you want to).

Other activities include snow boarding, mud sticking / rescue, snow blizzard training, demoralisation training and of course last but not least model battery endurance and model-floating-in-the-sea competition (I won the latter few years back).
Well are you interested in having some real fun!!!!!! Dust off that model or grab a brick and see all us other "nuts" there. Sorry for short notice but its due to it being a "wind type thing".
Regards Peter

Our Poor Flying Field

I took the dogs down for a walk and had a good look at our flying site. There is slightly less standing water but it seems it's going to take a while before we can drive onto the field again...
I suspect it will be heli's and foamies for a while unless you hump your gear over by foot...

FREE HEATED GLOVES

Hi all. Got a brand new pair of Maplin's Medium sized heated gloves for Xmas but they are too small... Offering them FREE to anyone in our flying club who can use them - a wife or girlfriend who has to endure the winter flightline perhaps... They work so well as I used a pair many years ago at my telescope. Just give me a call - Regards Peter / Broken Wing.
