Field update.

Hi All,
I hope this email finds you well.

As you are aware the club field is licenced from the council whom we have spoken to today.

The Chairman Dave Cook has spoken to all members of the Committee to discuss the possibility
of flying at the club flying site under the new guidelines.

The decision was made unanimously that NO flying activities should take place for the next 3 weeks
or until the Government announce any further changes.

This decision has not been arrived at easily as we understand that we are all looking forward to going flying
again, but we must ensure that we keep all members and the club safe.

An email from the Secretary will be sent as soon as any change is made.

Kind Regards
Jan Bruce, (Secretary) BPMFC

David,

Thank you for this the update. I feel it would be helpful for our members if you were to kindly explain what the rational was in making this decision of imposing a ban on flying.

Many thanks

Hi Tom,

Safety of the Club and it's member's has never been so important than at this time.
The following information is from the BMFA. I hope this helps you and other members understand better why the club committee came to this decision.

(Whilst a return to model flying is now possible for some (in England only) it cannot be considered as being business as usual. A trip to the flying site to socialise with more than one other member is not permitted under the current government advice and you should not be making arrangements to meet a group of others to go flying.

Model flying within the current restrictions should be considered as a solo activity (unless with other members of your household or one person from outside your household – for safety purposes). This does not mean that if anyone else is present at the flying site you must go home (the same would be true in your local park), but gatherings must be avoided, and social distancing maintained. Some clubs have introduced a booking system to limit the number allowed on the field at any one time and to minimise wasted journeys. We would also re-iterate that where land-owners have closed their sites (such as the MOD and National Trust) you must not fly there until they re-open.

Do remember that when you go flying you are not there to meet up with others, you are there to fly your aircraft and nothing else. Do not mingle with other people and respect social distancing guidance to ensure you maintain a safe distance. If in any doubt, please stay at home.)

The decision by the committee is to be upheld for 3 weeks.
