Forgive this post as its not about aviation but about the majestic history of this little island on which our model planes fly. Sheppey gets so little publicity regarding the important events in history the island has played however so many people from so many countries view this site it will do no harm to inform people about the island on which many of our members live. Regards Peter.

Very interesting Pete and well worth watching.
I felt sorry for the sailors that were treated unjustly in the past what with press ganging and salaries not paid. It did not mention the harsh treatments on board the ships which most of us are aware of though.
Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves and treats it's sailors like bloody slaves!
Hi Mike - Do agree but then this also comes to mind -
An old Irish retired crew of a sailing boat were tasked with burying their mate Murphy who wanted to be buried at sea.
Pat and Mick had rowed out a little when Pat got out of the boat and stood knee deep in the water, We need to go out further says Pat, so they row out another fifty yards then Pat jumps out and the water reaches his chin, We need to go out further says he, so they row another 100 yards.
Pat jumps out again and dissapears under water, after 5 min he reapears and after a little coughing and spluttering says to Mick, "Thats far enough give me out the shovel.
Pat should get a regular job once they start to build Boris's airport in the sea!
