DAS BOOT

As Pete mentioned about the boat I thought perhaps a picture of the sad craft would be appropriate on our website. It has not sailed since about 1977 when it got stuck on a barrier in Danson Park Lake Sidcup after the propeller fell off when the boat was guided through shallow water. Recovery took some while but was eventually achieved by a young volunteer who walked out onto the narrow wooden barrier.

As you can see the second hand boat is covered with specs of mold and the paint job looks pretty awful. However the hull is fibreglass and with a bit of a clean-up and re-fit / repaint it could be made to look ship-shape. It is powered by an ED 3.5cc 'Sea Otter' diesel which is in very good order and been oiled up and kept in a plastic bag for over 30 years. The engine starts easily with a leather cord you wrap around the fly-wheel. The 2 channel Sanwa 'Mini-2' 27 Mhz radio needs a new receiver and 2 servos.

If I was to start the re-fit now I bet the weather will improve so we can fly the planes?

Hi Mike - Looks better than my old Keil Kraft Sea Nymph...
That had a 3.5cc fitted as well but the seams opened up and it went down in the middle of Clapham Common - but unlike a plane - nothing to pick up...
