Och Aye the Noo - lovely little field

Happy days....my new Scottish best mate Jock McStrap has given me permission to fly "ma toys" at the top end of his field when I'm up there. Only them wee quiet lectrical ones though, none of them big noisy things ye ken. Well handy when you find out that someone you work with is related to the landowner.
15 minutes from the hotel my firm uses, on the road from Aberdour just before it drops down to Burntisland where our Head office is in Fife. To the right it looks out over the Firth of Forth so very scenic too.
Will give me something to do in the evenings now when I am up there for the longer visits when I have to drive up instead of flying.

FPV Fun Jet

Went up the road today with my mate Mitch. He knocked up some FPV bits he had laying around and put them onto a fun jet.
Note - at the end of the video...
The bits can be glued back again!

I think I need to change my deodorant.

14 Deg 4 MPH wind and I was on my own. Good day though just a little lonely LOL.

My planes were ready!

Just so you don't forget what a Cougar looks like I have inserted a picture of four of my planes that were ready to fly last weekend. I just hope  we get some more suitable weather in the next few days?
Also pictured is my 54 year old Junior 60 fuselage I am refurbishing. It won't be long now before the Junior is beating up the flying field again with it's ED 2.46 Racer to challenge old Dave's Spitfire!

The Source of Paul's Cougar's Red Nose

The covering material is up to date Oracover and not some cheap old covering from the 1950's as suggested by cup winner Slippery When Wet. As I mentioned previously I bought the covering for a Super Air I had been given about two years as a 'damaged repairable'. I am still waiting to fly this plane!

Bartons Point Scale Day.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Won this today,

Cougar finally escapes the dustbin!

Here we are then 12 days after the crash the Cougar is ready for hand- over to Paul. I could have delivered it today at the Scale competition but cannot drive due to a knee injury caused by a shopping trip to Waitrose. If you need the plane urgently Paul, I am only 52 miles in Sanderstead Croydon.

Best of luck you scalers!

Wreck restored, well almost!

Cougar almost finished !

Servos installed and rudder and elevator linked up. Kevlar hinges added to elevator . Outstanding works include repair to front leading edge of wing and fixing of repaired aileron. The radio switch front plate is fractured so a replacement switch might be necessary. I am not sure why the switch has an associated socket which I could not remove  to cover the nose of the plane?  Only 9 days since the crash and the Cougar should be airborne soon?

Things can go wrong...

Here you go Simon. I was doing this before it was legal in the UK.
When camera's were rubbish and used tape and were tied to your chest...
See the watch ripped off my wrist flying through the air...
And no matter how careful you are things can go wrong...

More Cougar Progress

Paul's Cougar repair is nearly complete but a slight set back has occurred  as I did not realise that the elevator is not attached to the tail plane with hinges. It is fixed with  purple tape that I had to remove carry out the repair. So I have now fitted some hinges so the repair should still complete by the end of the week?

Weston Cougar Repair

Paul's Cougar Repair Progress Report

The thin ply inserts now fitted within the fuselage and some balsa filling has been added together with the jigsaw of bits of balsa recovered. Initial sanding of the front of the fuselage complete but some wood filler needed and final sanding. Rear of fuselage filling will follow.

Paul's Cougar-who said it could not be repaired?

Well us old modellers that were brought up on three shillings and nine pence Keil Kraft kits can fix most things made of balsa

The Cougar was deemed beyond repair so here is a picture so far of the impossible taking place. Only an hour separates the photographs!
