Ben Buckle - Matador - Electric Power
This is the history of the Model in Mikes words - From RCM&E entry...
In the 1970's my nephew built a Matador which we eventually flew at Epsom Downs Racecourse but I could only keep it in the air with full left rudder. Eventually it piled-in just a few yards from us and I can well remember the explosion of balsa wood. All was not lost because my nephew (Nigel) acquired another Matador fuselage from a friend and the plane was re-built with my new OS 10 RC up front - it flew very well at Croydon Airport with throttle and rudder only control but on one flight it got caught in a thermal and my Nephew attempted to 'spiral it out' with full rudder which caused the wings to fold up! Some days later having driven to my nephew's house I spotted the wrecked Matador poking out of the dustbin on his driveway so I retrieved it and stuck it in my loft. It stayed in my loft for about 30 years but a couple of years ago I decided to convert it for electric flight. Would the darn thing fly - This is the final result...
I made this video to record the event & see Mike smile...

WANTED - For New Project.
I would like to get hold of a small nitro R/c plane engine - around a 10 to Max of a 20 size... Not worried how it looks but needs to have R/c and a silencer. Anyone got an old one in a box they would be kind enough to sell me. - Fingers crossed. Regards Peter

CCC cold Wednesday
The sun came out today and some of our keen club members came to the field however they found at best it was just 8C and with a cold North wind off the cold North Sea...
When I got there I could hear teeth chattering but undeterred our merry band continued to fly.
One group even brought the kids along - how keen was that!
I took along my new electric Autogyro but alas it broke on its first maiden (crash) but I am sure with a lot of epoxy I can fix it - unlike the poor Stuka of recent demise.

Sunday at the Field
Had a report come in that someone was flying down at our flying field who was NOT a member - By the time I got there he had moved on a bit but I managed to track him down just in time to see his umbrella collapse and dump him in the sea...
Highest gust at home is 48.7 MPH off my weather station Sunday.
UPDATE 57.3 MPH Monday @13:17.
