I have just about finished refurbishing this anonymous Trainer which has included repairs to the tail- plane and recovering of the fuselage and tail- plane . I fitted a new fuel tank and tubing and this afternoon will fit a new 2.4 GHZ receiver and switch. As you can see it's slightly bigger than the Super Air but very much lighter in weight so it could be good for the A-test ? Anyone know what the plane is called , it needs a name but if none can be suggested then 'Old Bird' might do ? --it is powered by an OS 46 LA.
Sorry, no idea what it is but it's good to see a trainer of traditional built up structure. I've really got back into traditional building.

ReplyDeleteNot bad for £30 Tom, the money went to charity. Apart from the wings that I did not need to touch, the covering on the rest of the plane came off very easily and needed to be removed as the plane looked rather sad.I was able to use the remainder of the Oracover I used on Paul's Challenger on the fuselage. The fuel tank which could not be dismantled had to be replaced and the engine which barely turned over needed quite a lot of treatment with WD 40 and After Run Oil and manipulation. Yesterday I set up the new 2.4 GHZ radio with 35 % expo on the ailerons, elevator and rudder. As the model is unknown the preferred location of the C/G is also unknown so a third of the wing root location will have to do. I have put a larger wheel on the nose leg in the hope it will assist the model off the ground quicker? Any good weather expected---if not anyone up for slope soaring at Castle Hill ?
