PLANES REPAIRS CONTINUED

I witnessed the sad demise of Pete's two planes last Thursday on the club field,  but felt that at least the Cougar could be repaired without the use of a hammer! The wings needed only a minor repair but the front of the fuselage was in bits. Pete handed me the bits, some balsa parts were missing but I had my own Cougar as a pattern. I have made some progress to date:

Only minutes after I took this photograph a friend of mine brought round a plane for me his son had rescued from the local tip. It was complete with radio that functions OK plus a a Super Tiger 51. Anyone know what it is?

  2. Very much like a Razzle Paul, but the tailplane is different.

Pete seems very grateful but absolutely fed up with his RC equipment. Having witnessed the crashes,I can confirm that Pete is as you know a very competent flyer and that he called out that the radio had failed prior to the crashes on both occasions. As I had all the materials necessary to repair the Cougar and Pete has given me so much assistance with model flying I thought it was my turn to do him a favour. The repair to date has not taken long.

I am very wary about 2.4 ghz radio as I have read about and seen a number of crashes linked to it. As often seems to happen after any crashes the radio functions OK, so it is almost impossible to detect how the problems have occurred. It's ironic that I bought Pete's old 35 mhz RC gear which has functioned perfectly

  4. I hate the idea of a plane ending up in a tip - not a worthy demise at all.
Matchstick end means a model is remembered but the local tip is such an empty end...
Can't believe my Cougar will live again - I've not been able to think of anything since the crash...
Thanks Mike - and I will be swappig the Air Ferry plane with you as you will love that model...
