Five of us went to Detling and there there was little wind at first but it picked up and the hill was soon bristling with flyers.
Its amazing just how popular this site is and there's no club - just like minded flyers. While our site is quite in winter - when its windy - this one is busy...
Had a great time soz i didn't get to chat as much as i would have liked was too busy flying ;)
ReplyDeleteWas good fun and your electric conversion was such a simple idea and worked a treat.
ReplyDeleteHad to be simple for my pea brain ;) was well chuffed lil motor was just right and got good flight times too okay had a lil assistance from the lift off the hill but even so should get a good 10mins will try it down the field when we got low winds.. looking forward to next wend will keep an eye on the weather during the week :)
ReplyDeleteI had a great time, too. First time I had flown a glider since 1957! Great company and great fun. An epic film, Pete. Spielberg could not have done better.
ReplyDelete1957!!! I wasn't even born then thought i was old... u looking gr8 on it though Roy :) hopefully u wont leave it as long till the next time. :) was a good time with good company and yes Peter captured the time we shared perfectly. Hopefully my lil cam will see some action next puting :)

ReplyDeleteIt's a shame I missed out due to problems with our boiler not functioning (Diverting valve problem) and my wife organising a dinner party. All three of my gliders were ready for action as was my PPE clothing. As for 1957, I may well have flown my Keil Craft Dolphin and Jetex Cub by then?
I think that my glider was a Keilcraft 36 inch free-flight Diana. It flew once, caught a thermal on the Darland Banks in Chatham and the last I saw of it was it disappearing over my head in the direction of the Isle of Grain!
ReplyDeleteDo need a foam job Roy - no bits to pick up
ReplyDeleteI can vouch for that mine has done loads of controlled forced landings not even a scratch.. hope you got your heating fixed hopefully see you all need time.. Looking forward to seeing everyone and everytime new models just keep appearing bet everyones getting fed up seeing my battered jet lol..
ReplyDeleteEmail just sent out (Tues 26/1/16 @ 8:40 pm) to slope soaring group.
ReplyDeleteCheck your emails - let me know.
Regards Peter
SLOPE SOARING CANCELLED.Issued Friday 29th
ReplyDeleteThe wind direction has altered twice since I sent out the original email and what's more its ruined us now for both days over the weekend for Detling.
I would have considered elsewhere but the wind direction is so changeable at this moment it would mean we travel some way to a slope only to find the winds changed before we got there.
Sorry lads – with the best will in the world I can only try...
I will be in touch.
Regards Peter
:( thx 4 letting us all know there will be other days soon i'm sure :)
ReplyDeleteI was all charged up and ready to go...
ReplyDeleteDitto :(
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pete.
