I spent a lot of time on the Matador project to the detriment of my other planes. However assuming the giro does not weigh too much it would add to the Matador experiment and possibly allow take-offs without ground loops?
Yesterday adjusted the gain up to the full on position and tried it. No good - it made the plane "fish tail". In a dive it started to look like it was swimming as the tail started to oscillate from side to side... Easy cure just backed off the gain and the little gyro was back to being helpful again...
Hi Pete, Jon here, new to the blog. I really enjoyed the video's and am about to start experimenting with a Gyro myself, I've brought the all in one RX3S OrangeRX unit from Hobbyking. I love the hands free fly pasts ;-) All the best, Jon
Hi Jon. Good luck with the gyro - I did it as a fun project and always try to do a video as a video give the viewer the results he can see for himself - even when its hands free He He. Regards Peter
How do you feel about this fun project - got a plane to try it with!
ReplyDeleteWon't make you a better pilot but it could help with some models.
Any comments!
ReplyDeleteObviously it works well Pete, but would it help the ancient Mercury Matador?
MJE
Recon it would dampen down the oscillations in the turns.

should do the trick
