Finding Bartons Point

Field Location & The Harps Inn

The flying field is situated in Bartons Point Coastal Park on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent.

Sheppey is an island connected to the mainland via a new bridge the 'Sheppey Crossing'.
The road onto the island is the A249

Once across the Sheppey Crossing stay in the right hand lane for 'Leysdown'

Arriving at the first round-a-bout take the exit for 'Leysdown'

Almost immediately onto a 2nd round-a-bout again take exit for 'Leysdown' (B2231 'Lower Rd)

Travel approximately 1/2 mile to first traffic light junction - turn left towards Minster, into 'Barton Hill Drive'

Drive to top of road (less than 1/2 mile) and take first exit on mini round-a-bout - towards Minster (Barton Hill Drive)

Short distance down hill to 2nd mini round-a-bout - turn right for Minster

Short distance to a third mini round-a-bout - turn left for 'Seafront' (The Broadway)
(NOTE: On the right at the round-a-bout is the Harps Inn where club meetings are held)

The distance to the seafront is approximately one mile and on the way you pass the Abbey Hotel on the left.
As you get to the sea front the road turns in a tight bend to the left on this bend is the White House Bangladeshi Restaurant.

You are now travelling along the coast road (Marine Parade) with the sea and shingle beach on the right behind raised bank/seawall. Shortly you will see brown signs for left turn 'Bartons Point Coastal Park' which is less than 1/2 mile

Turning in to Bartons Point Coastal park the first gate onto the park is for the motorbike club
and does not give access to the flying field due to water ways..
The location for the flying field gate is further on.

The field gate is kept padlocked except for public 'fly-in' events.
Club members are required to get a key cut. They can then open the gate and drive across to the field parking area.

If you drive past the access gate the road leads to the boating lake which has a car park, a cafe and toilets
(which is a 5 minute walk from the flying field)
