Got everything ready for the event but I kept an eye on the weather forecast and sure enough tomorrow's weather got progressively worse.

As last Tuesday's weather was perfect I arranged with Brokenwing to test out my Flair SE5A that needed it's maiden flight. I bought this plane four years ago and had not flown it, so I gave it a thorough inspection and carried out minor repairs, installed a new Eneloop battery and changed the radio to 2.4 GHZ. Brokenwing also gave it a thorough inspection and tightened a few bolts, and to our amazement the engine started immediately. He flew the plane without problems and it needed no trim adjustment and took off and landed perfectly. I just need to improve my rudder controls with some practice on the simulator before I take complete charge of the plane which BW said was vice less.

Sad that the weather has done us again so I think Dave saying to start next June means we could get a decent day for it.
O well you can never beat British weather so my mum & dad used to say - bless em...
( if your reading this mum & dad - hopefully from up there - have a word for all of us for next years scale day with “the guvnor”).
